Black Myth: Wukong Bamboo Grove Ultimate Walkthrough & Boss Guide 2026

Explore the Bamboo Grove in Black Myth: Wukong and master Spirit cultivation with expert tips for hidden paths, resources, and boss fights.

Hey everyone, it's your friendly neighborhood myth slayer back with another deep dive! Today, we're tackling the lush but treacherous Bamboo Grove in Black Myth: Wukong. This is the second major region in Chapter 1, and boy, does it pack a punch. It's not just about pushing forward; it's where the game's core Spirit cultivation system truly opens up. I'm here to guide you through every hidden path, resource cache, and brutal boss fight, so you can emerge victorious and ready for what's next. Let's get into it! 😤

Right after you use that first shrine behind the temple, head downhill. You'll spot a few Wolf enemies prowling about. 🐺 Before engaging them, hug the left wall! There's a sneaky, narrow path leading to a cave. Inside, you'll meet a surprisingly chill Horse Guai who drops some lore about the Black Wind King, the big boss of this mountain. Don't miss the Meditation Spot right in front of the altar—perfect for a quick breather and some skill contemplation.

Back on the main trail, deal with the three wolves. Loot the Jade Lotus from the pond and grab the Gentian on the right. Then, look for some broken fencing past the plants. Here, you'll face your first mini-challenge: the Wolf Sentinel! This guy's got a mean halberd and some quick slices. Take him down and crack open the chest he was guarding for some sweet Will and x2 Stone Spirit. 💎

Continue down the narrow path and stairs. You'll see a big mural slab. To its right, a small alcove hides a Snake-Head Mushroom. Up ahead, at the base of some small waterfalls, Croaky enemies lurk among more Jade Lotus. Interact with the green wisp here for Will, and grab another one under the opposite falls. Now, head up the stone stairs on the side and peek left into a small canyon.

Take the stairs on the left, cross the high bridge over the falls, and you'll see the golden trail of a shrine. BUT WAIT! ✋ Before following it, take the right path. You'll find a cute wooden gazebo with a table. Open the small gold box on top for a variety of medicines—always handy!

Now, follow that golden trail to the shrine. A Crow Diviner is standing guard. Beat him up and rest at the shrine. Since these enemies don't respawn, you can relax here. To the left of the shrine, under an awning, smash some pots for extra Will. There's also a shortcut over some rocks, but I recommend sticking to the main path first for all the goodies.

Head up the stairs on the right. Just before a large bridge, you'll see a weird dude with a giant gourd on his back, reciting poetry. As you get close, he'll ask about "nameless souls" (those green wisps). He then blesses your gourd! 🎉 This is a HUGE upgrade. The Blessed Gourd lets you capture those floating wisps for way more Will and even a tiny heal charge refill. Even better, certain defeated enemies now leave behind departed Spirits. You can equip these in a special slot, charge them up with Qi in battle, and unleash their unique attacks by holding R2+L2! If you already beat the Wandering Wight back in the Forest of Wolves, you can retrieve its spirit from this shrine's menu right now.

Ready to move on? Cross the bridge. Here, you'll meet a Snake Patroller. 🐍 These spear-wielding snake-men can lunge with a poisonous bite (use Antimiasma Powder if poisoned!) or dash with a horizontal spear combo. After dealing with him, grab a nearby Snake-Head Mushroom.

Next up is a spooky field of bones. Three kneeling bodies will animate into Skeletal Snakes. They're slow and try to grab you, but a few good whacks will put them down for good.

Head down the left platform, follow the path, defeat another Snake Patroller, then drop down right into a stream. This leads to a marshy swamp full of Croakies. As you approach the large stone mural in the cliffs... SURPRISE! An optional mini-boss, Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang, leaps out! 🐸

This giant toad is no joke. His moves include:

  • Forward arm swipes followed by a leaping splash.

  • A fast belly dash after he lowers his arms.

  • A powerful frog leg kick if you try to get behind him.

  • A wide sweeping tongue attack.

Pro Tip: Use Immobilize to lock him down during his leaps or tongue attack. Transforming with Red Tides also makes him more vulnerable. Beat him to get his Spirit and a Tadpole material.

Past the boss area, grab a green wisp, a Snake-Head Mushroom, and drop down into a large central grove. This place is crawling with Snake Patrollers and ambushing Skeletal Snakes. Be careful not to agro too many at once! Loot the area for resources, but watch out! One "Snake-Head Mushroom" near a broken brazier is actually a Fungiling in disguise! These plant-head monsters hit hard with their poleblades. Use Immobilize to stop them and attack.

Follow the lit dirt path through the bamboo until you see statues flanking a gap. Beyond it awaits one of the toughest fights yet: Guangmou. 😰 This Yaoguai Chief is a master of tricky projectiles and poison.

Guangmou's Arsenal:

Attack How to Counter
Homing ghost projectiles Dodge sideways or deflect. He often teleports in while you're busy!
Wide-area poison spit Get out of the frontal cone!
Rapid line of spells He levitates briefly; dodge laterally.
"Storm forth!" Leaf orb Creates a slow-moving orb that turns into a tornado. Use Immobilize when he casts to freeze it!
Summon "Boys" (poison snakes) They spit venom 5-6 times. Either run/dodge like crazy or find a spot and use your staff spin to block projectiles temporarily.
Slow repulsing explosion He charges it by spinning. Close the gap and combo him!

Fight Strategy: Stock up on Antimiasma Powder. Stay mobile and aggressive to avoid his tornadoes. If you have the Wandering Wight's Spirit, use its headbutt attack to knock him down and prevent teleports. The Red Tides transformation can also cleanse poison. Beat him to get his spirit, which lets you summon venomous snakes! 🐍

After the fight, the Keeper mentions the fallen monks Guangmou and Guangzhi. Head up the sloping stairs to the left of the arena to find and ring the second large bell. 🔔

Find the small archway near the boss arena, climb the winding stairs following the gold trail, and you'll reach the next shrine. From here, look for the tall tree with yellow flowers and grab the Luojia Fragrant Vine. Head down the path from the shrine, save a monkey from a Snake Patroller, and get a Gall Gem as a reward. The monkey, a Shen Monkey, will lead you into a cave where he acts as a merchant! Sell, buy gourds, drinks—check his stock! 🛒

After shopping, grab a green wisp near some wooden scaffolding by a large statue. Exit the cave, cross a wooden platform to a small building, and open a large chest for x2 Tiny Piece of Gold and x3 Stone Spirit. Continue down, turn right for x2 Snake-Head Mushrooms, and head into the marsh for the grand finale: Whiteclad Noble. ⚔️

Don't let his look fool you—no poison here. He uses a spear and water manipulation.

  • Phase 1 (Human): He creates water waves, throws and recalls his spear, and uses leaping lunges. His close-range combo is deadly: often 2 fast swings -> delayed thrust, or a string of 5 rapid strikes ending with a leap. Dodge the final leap and counter, or use Immobilize to break his flow.

  • Phase 2 (Serpent): He transforms, regaining all health. Attacks get fiercer: his spin attack is less predictable, he creates tricky diagonal waves, and he can slam his spear to send a straight water line at you. Stay vigilant, dodge to the sides, and keep using Immobilize to create openings.

Victory rewards you with the Jade Fang. Now, for the secret! 🗝️ Instead of going forward, turn left and pass through a flooded ravine.

You'll reach a large area with wolves gathered around the third and final bell. Defeat them (one's hanging from a tree!), ring the bell, and you'll be transported to the hidden Ancient Guanyin Temple. If you want to skip this secret area, just head through the structure the Whiteclad Noble was guarding to exit the Bamboo Grove and move on to Black Wind Cave.

And that's it, folks! The Bamboo Grove is conquered. You've mastered Spirit collection, taken down epic bosses, and unlocked a secret temple. This area is a massive skill check and progression hub, so take your time to explore and collect everything. Let me know in the comments which boss gave you the most trouble! Until next time, happy slaying! ✌️
